12-Year-Old Hits Passing Car on West Columbia

A 12-year-old boy was hurt when attempting to cross the street Wednesday morning in Battle Creek.

Local officers made their way to the area of West Columbia and 28th Street, where the student had attempted to cross and ran into the side of a passing car. Investigators say that the incident occurred after school had already started and the crossing signal had “do not cross” lit at the time.

The boy and his mother were taken to Bronson-Battle Creek for treatment. The investigation continues in this incident.
