Michigan lost at Indiana 70-67 on Sunday.  The Wolverines missed a potential game-tying shot just before the final buzzer. Zak Irvin led the Wolverines with 23 points.

The Wolverines dropped their third-straight game.  Michigan is 13-and-11 on the year, and 6-and-6 in the Big-Ten. They visit Illinois on Thursday.

Michigan State heads to Northwestern on Tuesday.    Broadcast time is 6pm on WBCK.

Pistons

The Pistons lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves, 112-101 last night at the Palace of Auburn Hills. Andre Drummond tallied another double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds, but it wasn't enough. D.J. Augustin chipped in 20 with eight assists for Detroit, which has lost two of three.  Detroit plays in Charlotte on Tuesday night.   They’ll be home for San Antonio on Wednesday.

Red Wings

The Red Wings have won 9 of their last 10 and finish a three-game road trip Wednesday in Pittsburgh.  The team has made one roster decision and has another to make.  The Wings have sent Xavier Ouellet back to the Grand Rapids Griffins,  while keeping fellow rookie defenseman Alexey Marcheko.  As goalies Jimmy Howard and Jonas Gustavsson are ready to return, 22 year old Petr Mrazek may be headed back to Grand Rapids.  Mrazek has been very solid for the Wings.

CMU Hires Lions Coach

Detroit Lions special teams coordinator John Bonamego has been named the new head coach of Central Michigan University. Bonamego held that position with Detroit for the past two seasons. Bonamego graduated from CMU in 1987. He replaces former CMU coach Dan Enos, who left to become the offensive coordinator at Arkansas.

West Michigan Wolves

The West Michigan Wolves Jr. Hockey team beat the Metro Jets 5-4 in Waterford Saturday.  A 4-goal second period paved the way for the Wolves, and Dakota Ulmer scored twice.   The Wolves were out-shot 33-22, but goalie Chase Stanford stopped 29 of them. The Wolves play at home at The Rink this Friday night and Saturday afternoon against Chicago.   After that, they have 4 games remaining in the regular season, and then head to the playoffs.

Golf

Jason Day made par on the second playoff hole on Sunday to win the Farmers Insurance Open. Day closed with a 2-under 70 to end at 9-under-par 279.

Billy Casper Dies

Golf great Billy Casper has died of a heart attack in his Utah home at 83.  Casper won 51 times on the PGA Tour, putting him at No. 7 on the career list.

North Carolina B-Ball Coach Dean Smith Dies

Dean Smith, the longtime University of North Carolina men’s basketball coach, died on Saturday at the age of 83. Smith coached North Carolina from 1961 to 1997, leading the team to national titles in 1982 and 1993. He retired with the most wins of any coach in college basketball history with 879.

Incognito in Buffalo

The Buffalo Bills have agreed in principle to sign offensive guard Richie Incognito. The nine-year veteran didn't play last season after being one of the central figures in the Miami Dolphins' bullying scandal. He hasn't played since being suspended and missing the final eight games of the 2013 season.
