A few hits and a wild pitch in the ninth inning would cost the Battle Creek Bombers a chance to sweep the Kenosha Kingfish Thursday night. The Bombers would allow five runs in the final inning to give the Kingfish an 8-4 victory in a two-game series split.

Charlie Madden (Mercer) made a solid debut behind the dish and going 2-for-4 at the plate, including a two-run homer. Dan Swain (Siena) also hammered his first homer of the season. Christian Helsel (Penn State) added three hits on the night.

Nick Sergakis (Ohio State) hit his third homer of the series for the Kingfish to take the lead in the Northwoods League in that category. He was one of three Kenosha players with two RBI each.

Alex Vargas (Monroe College) was charged with all five runs given up in relief to suffer the loss for the Bombers.

The Bombers are now on the road for their longest trip of the season. They begin their eight-game trek in Mequon, Wisconsin against the Lakeshore Chinooks tonight. First pitch at Kapco Park is 7:35 p.m.
