Stabbing in Kalamazoo Leads to Hostage Situation

A Kalamazoo man is expected to be arraigned this afternoon after he allegedly stabbed one man and held several others hostage this morning.

Kalamazoo county Sheriffs say that the suspect broke into a residence at Canterbury Apartments in Kalamazoo around 4 a.m., where he stabbed a man inside.  He then held a woman and two children hostage, prompting a response from the Kalamazoo SWAT team and police negotiators.

Authorities were able to convince the suspect to let the hostages go, and he then surrendered peacefully.

The suspect was taken to the hospital with self inflicted wounds, along with his male victim.  Investigators are now trying to uncover the reason behind this attack.
