This week's Meijer Athlete of the Week is a perfect example of leadership. Harper Creek senior Coleton Swims started his final season on the gridiron as the starting quarterback, but moved farther back in the backfield after a mid-season injury to the Beavers fullback. Ever since, Coleton has rushed for over 100 yards in four of the final six games, including 111 yards on 17 attempts in a Week 9 defeat to Lansing Everett. Swims is a co-captain of the Beavers, and led them during the regular season in rushing, gaining 777 yards and scoring eight times, while catching nine paces for 160 yards and two more scores. The Beavers made it to the MHSAA playoffs at 5-4 and travel to Plainwell to battle the Trojans this Friday night.

Coleton also was an honorable mention in the Southwest Michigan Lacrosse Conference last spring, and will be on the field for the Beavers next spring as they prepare for their first season as a varsity squad after four years as a club team.
