The Lakeview Spartans finished 9-2 on the gridiron this season, winning their first district title and reaching the Regionals for the first time since 1983. The strong rushing offense was powered by junior running back Dre Kemp, who is WBCK's Athlete of the Week. Kemp rushed for just short of 15-hundred yards on the season with 22 touchdowns. In the first two games of the postseason, he rushed for 310 yards, including 226 in the district semifinal win over Mattawan, and three of his four scores in the district final over Portage Northern. He will return to the Spartans backfield next season, who will look to win the Southwest Michigan Athletic Conference East Division for a third straight season.

He will be receiving a plaque provided by Recognition, Inc. in the coming weeks. As the fall season concludes and we begin the winter season in just a few weeks, be sure to nominate your student-athlete as the Athlete of the Week. Click here for your nomination.
