Work is taking place at Battle Creek’s City Hall, but an area on the outside might have a larger problem.

The city stated in a release that a worker for Building Restoration of Kalamazoo suffered a minor injury after a piece of the façade broke free and fell on Wednesday. The small terracotta section also broke a first-floor window on the way down.

The section is currently being repaired, and possible water damage may have been the cause of the large piece breaking away. The incident will be assessed within the next week.

City Hall is over 100 years old.
