We were curious about what it is like at the Calhoun County Jail, so we recently reached out to Sheriff Matt Saxton to see if we could come and tour the facility and ask a few questions about its history.

The Calhoun County Jail was located in Marshall until July of 1994 when the current facility opened in Battle Creek. It has the capability to house several hundred more inmates than the jail in Marshall. Sheriff Saxton says the jail was built bigger with the foresight to rent beds to other municipalities.

In this video tour of the jail, you will see the intake area, the medical ward and some questions answered including how long people typically stay at the Calhoun County Jail.

This is the first of a two part video series with News Director Nico Berrios.
