After two rain delays, the Tigers managed a series-opening 7-5 win over the Orioles in Balitmore. 

The 1st inning swung into action with two homers flying off Tiger bats. Ian Kinsler and Justin Upton pushed Detroit into a 2-0 lead.

The Tigers had a chance to score again in the second, but James McCann hit into a 5-4-3 triple play, started by third baseman Manny Machado.

In the 3rd inning, Justin Upton sent  he ball between the legs of Baltimore short-stop Tim Beckham, allowing Jose Iglesias and Ian Kinsler to score. Miguel Cabrera then doubled, bringing Jim Adduci and Justin Upton home. Cabrera scored on a Mikie Mahtook sacrifice fly to right-field, making it a 7-0 game.

But the Orioles scored two in the third and one in the fourth off starter Matt Boyd, who was replaced by Warwick Saupold in the 5th.

Baltimore continued to edge-up the score in the 7th and the 8th, making it a 7-5 game, but the Tigers held on to win the game 7-5.  Shane Greene pitched a perfect 9th for his third save.

James McCann had a hit to extend his streak to 13 games.  Cabrera and Upton each had two runs batted in.

The two teams will face each other again, Friday evening at 6:40 PM, on 95.3 WBCK. Justin Verlander will get the start for the Tigers.
