An officer almost being hit by a truck has led to assault charges for the driver.

Around 12:40am Saturday, a Battle Creek Police Officer was in the 200 block of Battle Creek Ave when she heard squealing tires.  When the officer went to contact the driver, she saw the white truck hit a home.

The officer ordered the driver to stop, but instead the driver headed straight towards her, forcing the officer to jump out of the way.  The suspect driver also narrowly missed hitting an arriving police car.

A short chase then took place, with the suspect striking three parked cars before stopping.

The 39-year-old male driver was arrested without further incident, and is facing 2 counts of Felonious Assault with a motor vehicle, fleeing and eluding, and operating under the influence of drugs.
