A Coldwater man has now been arrested for an alleged kidnapping that took place over the summer.

The Michigan State Police Marshall Post says that on July 27, a woman who was attempting to leave her home in Branch County’s Kinderhook Township was stopped by a large piece of wood blocking her driveway. She got out of her vehicle to attempt to move it, when she was attacked from behind and struck multiple times in the head and face by an attacker with a piece of wood.

The attacker had been dressed in camouflage and a ski mask, and said he had a gun.

The woman struggled and screamed and honked her vehicle’s horn, prompting the attacker to leave on foot. Evidence at the scene was analyzed by the MSP crime lab, and state troopers eventually moved to arrest a suspect on Wednesday.

37-year-old Jason Lee Rodgers was lodged at the Branch County Jail, and is expected to face charges of attempted abduction, false imprisonment, and felonious assault.
