The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says that around 10pm Saturday, three armed men entered the business on E. Cork St, where one struck the clerk and demanded him to the floor, as a second suspect took cash from the register.
The MSP Marshall Post says that sometime between 4pm Saturday and 8:30am Sunday, a home in the 600 block of E. Copeland Rd. south of Coldwater was burglarized. The criminals grabbed several firearms and a vehicle before fleeing.
Calhoun County authorities busted a marijuana growing operations late Thursday night after their suspicions were raised during an arrest.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office says that they executed an arrest warrant earlier in the day Thursday to a home on W. Adams St. in Homer, when they observed marijuana plants in the back yard.
The BCPD says that they were called to Rambling Ln. on Battle Creek’s south side just before 11pm Wednesday, to find a 22-year-old man dead from a gunshot wound. This is the third gun related crime on Battle Creek’s south side in the past four days, and the second at the Arbors of Battle Creek.
In September, the BCPD added a community engagement coordinator as well as a cadet in their police training program. They say the goal of these employees is to help engage the growing Burmese community in Battle Creek, and help to foster a healthy relationship between the police department and community members.
on Tuesday, 42-year-old Luis Tejada of Homer pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of lying to a police officer; the maximum penalty for that is one year in jail, but as a part of the plea he may only need to pay fines.
30-year-old Stephen Getter was in Calhoun County Court Monday, and the judge sentenced him to serve life in prison without parole in the death of Robert Barosso. Getter was convicted of first degree murder in August.
Battle Creek Police Officers responded to the Arbors of Battle Creek on Greentree Ln. around 9:45pm Monday, to find a man inside an apartment with at least two gunshot wounds in his back and abdomen. The 23-year-old was taken to the hospital and was rushed into surgery, with his injuries described as non-life threatening.
