The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office says that just after 2am Monday, deputies were called to the 5000 block of 28 Mile Rd. in Homer Township on reports of domestic assault. Authorities say that a 35-year-old Homer Township man had assaulted his 24-year-old wife, cutting her clothes off with a box cutter and barricading her in a room.
Police say that a semi-truck driven by 63-year-old Charles Rothney of Durand, Michigan had been travelling westbound on I-94 around noon Saturday, when he failed to slow down for traffic near mile marker 92 between Battle Creek and Augusta.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office says that around 9pm Thursday, deputies responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle, a green Dodge Ram pickup, in the area of 25 ½ Mile Rd. and S Dr. South in Homer township; the caller advised it wasn’t the first time the vehicle had been parked in the area.
The city of Battle Creek says that a valve problem at the Verona Pumping Station forced water mains to be closed, meaning that some sediment might have been loosened; however, the water should remain perfectly safe to drink.
Police say that they were originally called to the first block of N. Union St. Monday morning, after a neighbor said she saw a 3-year-old boy yelling from the second floor of a home for his mother. Police arrived and found the back door unlocked, and found the child alone, before turning him over to Child Protective Services.
The Battle Creek Police Department says that just before 1am Thursday, they were called to the first block of Euclid Ave. to find a car leaving the scene; they stopped the car, and a 20-year-old Battle Creek man was found with a gunshot wound to his leg.
The program is intended to renovate rental projects “to improve housing options and increase neighborhood vibrancy”.
