Battle Creek Chosen As Fly-In Location By AOPA In 2016

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, the largest aviation association in the world, has chosen the city’s W.K. Kellogg Airport as one of its four 2016 fly-in locations.

The organization began hosting fly-ins in 2014, with more than 27,000 people and 4,000 aircraft visiting airports in 10 states. The events offer dozens of exhibitors featuring the latest aircraft technologies, demonstrations, seminars and speakers, food and entertainment, as well as a chance to explore each host location.

The Battle Creek fly-in, scheduled for Sept. 17, 2016, will be the first hosted in Michigan. Host locations are chosen through an extensive application process; airports from across the country apply.

“It is a privilege for the City of Battle Creek to be selected to host such an event, and a testament to the caliber of the W.K. Kellogg Airport, which the city owns and operates,” said the city’s transportation director, Larry Bowron.

The other 2016 locations are Beaufort, N.C.; Bremerton, Wash. and Prescott, Ariz. More information is available at the AOPA website, www.aopa.org.
