If you’ve got your eyes on a City Commission seat, you’ll be able to start collecting petition signatures Monday.

The City of Battle Creek says that in order to run for the November 7 Election, at large candidates need to be City of Battle Creek residents and collect at least 100 signatures from registered voters, while ward candidates need to live in the ward they are running in, and collect at least 50 voter signatures from within that ward. There are 4 at large seats and 5 ward seats, all of them up for election this fall.

It’s important to note that those who are elected will serve a three year term, as opposed to the normal two years, because of the shift from odd to even election years for commission seats.
