Hey Battle Creek residents, you need a street sign to tell you this?

At two locations around Battle Creek, one on Riverside Drive near the Burnham Street Bridge, and another along Hamblin Ave near the Battle Creek River the sign reads,

STATE LAW
DO NOT INTENTIONALLY INJURE OR KILL DUCKS & GEESE

Do drivers around Battle Creek need a sign to remind them to not kill animals on the road?

Although to be fair, there seems to be a few locations in Michigan where drivers could learn some manners when it comes to fowl friends crossing the road. In 2015, a driver in the Detroit suburb of Clinton Township was suspected of running down and killing several geese attempting to cross busy Gratiot Avenue (Caution - a graphic photo is contained in that linked story).
