The City of Battle Creek will be again looking for a new way to dispose of solid waste.

The city has announced that they will look for other options after completing a six-month pilot program with PulverDryer USA.

The equipment used in the program would remove most of the water from leftover biosolids and pulverize the solids for repurposing into fuel pellets, liquid oil or synthesized natural gas.

The process was found to be efficient but not efficient enough for the city benchmark.

The city will be reimbursed the $2.9 million spent for purchasing the equipment. The current waste water treatment process will not be in compliance with EPA regulations as of next year.
