Battle Creek Fire Leaves One Dead

A late afternoon fire left one person dead Tuesday.

Around 5:30pm, fire crews responded to E. Goguac St. in Battle Creek of reports of a house fire.  When they arrived, firefighters found heavy smoke in the upper story of the home with few visible flames, and found a man lying on the floor.  The man was removed and treated at the scene, but their efforts were unsuccessful.

It’s not known what caused the blaze or caused the death, but it is being investigated by the Fire Marshal.  The fire was found mostly within the walls of the home, and was put out.
