Battle Creek Firefighters Recognized For Response to I-94 Pileup

The Battle Creek Fire Department has been honored by Governor Snyder’s office for its role in responding to the infamous Jan. 9 pileup on I-94 near Battle Creek.

Multiple crashes on I-94 resulted in the massive wreck of 193 vehicles, leading to one death, many injuries and a two-day closure of the section of the interstate between mile markers 88 and 92, west of Battle Creek.

The Battle Creek Fire Department aided in emergency medical duties and helping extinguish fires at the scene.
