A Battle Creek man has been arrested after an apparent home invasion Sunday night.

Around 11pm Sunday, Battle Creek Police Officers responded to the 300 block of Meachem Avenue on reports of a suspicious man “lurking” in the area.  When police arrived, the subject attempted to flee by forcing himself through the front door of a nearby house.

Police threw up a perimeter, and located the suspect hiding in the basement of the house with the help of a K-9 unit.

Police also found firearms nearby.

The suspect, a 36-year-old Battle Creek man, was arrested on weapons and home invasion charges and is lodged at the Calhoun County Jail.
