A Battle Creek man is in jail after an apparent drive by shooting this morning.  Around 2am Monday, Battle Creek Police Officers were in the area of High Street and Echo when they saw the shooting occur.

Officers tried to pull over the suspect but they fled.  In attempting to drive away, the suspect drove into a utility pole.

An officer fired into the vehicle when it tried to reverse into the authorities, which caused the suspect to surrender.

Authorities found a gun in his possession, and arrested the 37-year-old suspect on multiple firearms charges.  No injuries were reported in the incident.

The struck power pole was worked on by Consumers Energy, it’s not expected to impact traffic.
