"Hang in there, things are going to turn around very soon." That's the word from Battle Creek Assistant City Manager Ted Dearing, who oversees the city's ongoing downtown economic development efforts.

Having said that, Dearing is fully aware the phase in which many potential deals are currently situated is one in which a snag could happen at any time.

"You look at complicated projects like Heritage Tower, for example, you might have seven or eight levels of financing," Dearing said. "Progress is being made, but it takes a lot of time."

The good news, Dearing tells WBCK, is that 7 or 8 key properties downtown are sold. And, progress is being made on all fronts.

"We have every reason to be optimistic," he said.
