As part of Spring Cleanup week in Battle Creek, residents of the city will be allowed to put out up to 10 cubic yards of construction waste at their curbs for no charge.

In a release, the City of Battle Creek says that from Monday, May 2 to Friday, May 6, Waste Management will pick up the waste on your usual pickup day.  This event is only for City of Battle Creek residents.

Materials must be contained, or bundled into four-foot lengths and tied securely.  Items also must weight less than 50 pounds.

However, treated lumber and hazardous waste will not be accepted.  If you have hazardous waste to drop off, you can do so Saturday, May 7 from 10a.m. to noon at the Calhoun County Health Department, Toeller Building at 190 E. Michigan Avenue.

Yard waste pickup by Waste Management continues until Dec. 2, also on your usual trash/recycling pickup day. Residents can place yard waste in specially-marked containers; paper, biodegradable bags available for purchase at locations around the community; or tied into four-foot bundles. As with the Spring Cleanup items, none of these may weigh more than 50 pounds.
