Students from across the globe will be making their way to Detroit, this April, to pit their robots against rival, student engineers. According to the Detroit News, with help from a University of Michigan initiative, Michigan’s Engineering Zone will be hosting their first championship, a global robotics convention, on April 25th through 29th. Around 90 of the 400 teams hail from Michigan. As many Detroit high schools don’t have the resources to support a robotics team, UoM has stepped in with support, providing workstations, equipment and a cadre of mentors. The Michigan Engineering Zone also offers students assistance on college applications and financial aid.
