Downtown Battle Creek could be home to a tattoo parlor very soon.

The Battle Creek City Commission will be considering a resolution at their meeting next Tuesday, that would allow for a tattoo and piercing parlor to set up shop at 98 W. Michigan Ave, a building that previously hosted Sweet Kreations Bakery. The business would be operated by local artist Jackie Westover and her husband Jesse.

Last month, the city planning commission found that the parlor would be “harmonious” with the city’s Master Plan, which emphasizes the promotion of “diverse” businesses in the downtown area. The Planning commission recommended the business be approved.

Other issues to be discussed at Tuesday’s City Commission meeting include a resolution to contract for fencing at the new BCPD HQ, and a change to the city’s sign and billboard ordinance to make it less restrictive.
