The City of Battle Creek is once again seeking federal and state funds to help keep their transit system running.

The Battle Creek City Commission will be considering Tuesday a resolution which would authorize the City Manager to apply for the funds from the Michigan Department of Transportation, for Fiscal Year 2019. The city would be applying for around $1.4 million, which would cover an estimated 37% of the Battle Creek Transit System’s budget.

The City says that this assistance is needed to meet the goal of providing public transportation for citizens.
