The City of Battle Creek says a special event will be taking place this weekend, to serve as a welcome for the Battle Creek Fire Department's newest truck.

The Open House takes place Saturday, May 12, as Fire Station 6 welcomes their new Truck 6. the open house will feature a "traditional ceremony" with a "push into service", where the truck is backed into the garage that serves the Minges/Riverside neighborhood.

The public is invited to attend and chat with the Station 6 crew and enjoy refreshments, and also check out the fire station and the new truck. The open house runs from 10am to 12:30pm, at the station at 2401 Capital Ave. SW in Battle Creek. The push into service takes place at 11am.

Battle Creek most recently got a new fire engine just over a year ago, when Fire Station 3 got their new Fire Rescue 3 engine in April 2017.
