Is your dream to open a restaurant?  Or maybe you've already done it and you're ready to increase your footprint?  Battle Creek Unlimited (BCU) is offering up $200 Grand ($200,000.00) in start-up money.

BCU, the economic development organization for the City of Battle Creek, is looking for a reputable, experienced restauranteur  to establish a new location in or near downtown Battle Creek.   BCU is accepting proposals now through March 22nd.

The proposed establishment would provide, at a minimum, full lunch and dinner services.  BCU is prepared to offer up to $200,000 in financial assistance to the winning proposal.

In a release, BCU says downtown Battle Creek is a prime location for a proprietor who wants to establish themselves. Competition is low, and the demand is high. Our economy was founded on food. We are home to numerous food and beverage companies in the area, and our community is growing.

BCU launched a similar request for proposals (RFP) in late 2017, landing New Holland Brewing Company and another small brewery, both to open in 2019. Revitalization of downtown Battle Creek will accelerate with the restoration of Heritage Tower, which will feature 85 market-rate residential units and retail space on the bottom two floors, a DoubleTree Hilton Hotel, and completion of the Record Box, which will feature event space, office space, and house the second brewery. Battle Creek Unlimited’s President & CEO, Joe Sobieralski, stated, “We are doubling and tripling down with this RFP to continue the momentum that has been established on revitalizing downtown Battle Creek. This RFP is intended to complement not only our already established businesses but also offer more options, which is feedback we regularly hear from the greater Battle Creek business community and residents  In fact, this RFP is intended to assist current downtown establishments with their needs as well.”

Proposals must be received no later than 11:59 PM EST, March 22, 2019.
