The Purple Palace at Lakeview High School was rockin’ Friday night, filled with a standing room only crowd that watched two crosstown and SMAC East Division rivals battling on the high school hard wood.  Even with three Spartans scoring in double-digits, Lakeview could not pull off the win as the Battle Creek Central Bearcats came out on top 73-50 at the final buzzer.

The Spartans managed to keep the game close through the first period, trailing by only five-points.  The Bearcats increased their lead to 13 with the score at 39-26 going into halftime. Lakeview trimmed Central’s lead down to nine points in the third, but that would be it.  Overall, the Bearcats outshot the Spartans 57%-30% and made seven of 13 three-point shots to none for Lakeview.

Curtis Trigg led Central’s scoring with 13-points and three rebounds, followed by Mohammed Albagami and Joseph Bowser with 10-points each.  The bulk of Lakeview’s 50-points came from Donnie Ernsberger with 21 points and 15 rebounds, Jake Love with 14 points and five rebounds and Jake Bivens adding 13 points and four rebounds. Lakeview drops to 8-and-8 on the season while BC Central improves to 15-and-2.
