Playing before a crowd of 650 fans, crosstown rivals Harper Creek and Lakeview took to the hard board on Tuesday night.  The Spartans were looking to avenge an earlier loss to the Beavers, but it was not to be.  Harper Creek brought the brooms with them and completed the series sweep by defeating Lakeview 56-46.

The Spartans led 12-9 at the end of the first period and took a 26-25 lead going into the locker rooms at the half thanks to a basket at the buzzer by Russell Mathiak. The Beavers came out shooting after the break scoring 18-points in the third period to the Spartans’ seven.  Lakeview kept pace with the Beavers in the fourth, with each team scoring 13-points, but the effort came too late to avoid the loss.  Overall, Harper Creek out-shot Lakeview 45 to 30 percent.  The Beavers had three players putting up double-digit points on the scoreboard: James Cadena with 17 followed by Brandon Hutson and Khylen Watkins each with 12-points.  C.J. Foster led the Spartans’ scoring with 16-points. Harper Creek’s defense proved to be more than Lakeview could handle, holding Donnie Ernsberger to just nine points and Jake Bivens to seven points.

Harper Creek improves to 14 and 5 while Lakeview drops to 8 and 11.
