Beware Of Power Scam
The Battle Creek Police Department is warning of a scam that warns people that their power is about to be shut-off.
The scam involves an individual calling people and warning that their power will be shut off if they do not secure an amount of money in the form of gift cards. The caller then asks for the numbers on the card for verification. Once the numbers are made available to the scam caller, they can then use the card with no intent of actually receiving the card.
Consumers Energy does not make these types of requests and they should be considered a scam. If you have a question about your bill and are not sure if it is a scam, hang up and contact Consumer Energy with the contact information provided on your bill.
