Not only is the first sign of Spring the appearance of chubby Robbins bob-bob-bobbing around your yard, but also the official proclaiming of the blessing of the bikes brings the image of warmer days.
West Michigan is fortunate to have a local blessing which will include classic cars. The 3rd Annual Allegan Blessing of the Bikes and Classic Cars will take place May 9th, from 8:00 am. to 2:00 pm. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 110 N. Cedar St., in Allegan. There is a $5.00 entrance fee for adults, but kids under 10 can tag along and get in for free. All proceeds will be directed to Operation Injured Soldier, Safe Harbor Children’s Advocacy Center with 10% going to Blessed Sacrament Church for parishioners in need.
Not only can you get your bike or car blessed but music provided by Clearwater will be wafting through the air while you munch on hot dogs or your favorite burger. This will also be a great time to get your kid’s bicycle and helmet inspected by a Michigan State Trooper, to insure that their brain matter stays intact upon impact. Other activities include a silent auction, a 50/50 raffle and assorted games.
All of this spring time fun is provided by the Michigan Chapter of the Knights on Bikes. It’s a great way to bring in summer, make sure your kids are properly fitted and their bikes in order plus help out some folks in need.
