Battle Creek Police Chief Jim Blocker and Calhoun County Sheriff Matt Saxton are taking a breath as they look back on 2016, a particularly difficult year in law enforcement.

Three officers in Michigan were killed in the line of duty, including Wayne State University officer Collin Rose, a native of Richland. Saxton spoke to WBCK about having met Rose at a training event just months before his death.

Blocker and Saxton also discussed a video of an arrest that made the rounds on social media, as well as an unusual case of a fraudulent wire transfer at a Battle Creek credit union.

Blocker told WBCK hacking crimes are the only crime statistics not declining.
