"Blood Alley" was the site of another vehicle crash on a stretch of I-94 that runs from Exit 81, Kalamazoo, to Exit 92, Battle Creek.

A semi-truck was westbound between 35th Street and Sprinkle Road, Friday morning, when it veered onto the shoulder of the highway and hit an unoccupied disabled semi-truck which was parked alongside the road.

The driver, 59-year-old Robert Schaffer, was taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital for Non-life threatening injuries.

According to a news release, Schaffer told police that he had fallen to sleep. As a result, the highway was shut-down for two hours.

This infamous 11-mile stretch of highway is known for its large number of traffic accidents in all types of weather.
