A large scale scam that allegedly saw 19 defendants stealing over $200,000 from the Bank of America was facilitated at the Firekeepers Casino in Battle Creek.

On Friday, the US Attorney for West Michigan announced charges against the 19 from Michigan, Illinois and Georgia, alleging that they orchestrated a so-called “Cracking Cards” scheme. This crime saw the suspects allegedly opening Bank of America accounts and depositing fraudulent checks in the winter of 2015; the suspects would then withdraw cash from ATMs, and by conducting cash advances at Firekeepers casino.

Those in this scheme charged with conspiracy to commit bank fraud could get up to 30 years in prison if they are convicted.
