A boil water advisory has been issued for a Battle Creek neighborhood, due to water system work.

In a release, The City of Battle Creek says that when water pressure is reduced to allow work to be done, there is the potential for bacteria to enter the system.

The City advises affected residents to avoid drinking water without boiling it first.  It is recommended that residents bring water to a boil for one minute before drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, food preparation and washing dishes.

Boil water advisories typically last at least 24 hours, but may be extended.

The affected areas include:

28th Street between Goguac St and Territorial Road

Floral Drive between 28th Street and Goguac Street

Highland Boulevard between 28th Street and 27th Street
