A boil water advisory was issued for a section of Battle Creek Friday morning, while crews work on the water system.

In a release, the City says that residents and businesses along Fountain St. between Capital Ave. SW and Division St. should boil their water before using it for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes or food preparation.

This is a necessary precaution because when water pressure is lowered in the municipal water system, there is potential for bacteria to enter the water. Boil water advisories typically last for 24 hours but can be extended.
