The Northwoods League season begins tonight and the Bomb Squad return to C.O. Brown Stadium for their home opener!

The Battle Creek Bombers return to action to host the first of two games with the Lakeshore Chinooks tonight and Wednesday before they take on their rival Kalamazoo Growlers Thursday to begin a home-and-home series. All three games begin at 7:05pm.

There are a few changes this year in the Northwoods League. The league schedule expands two games to 72 games this season, giving the Bombers 36 home games (weather permitting).

The road trips will also be shorter as the league expanded to 20 teams with the expansion Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (WI) and the Bismark Larks (ND). The North and South divisions each have 10 teams, keeping the Bombers trips to just down the road on I-94, northern Illinois and Wisconsin. Their longest trip will be to Wausau, Wisconsin, home of the Wisconsin Woodchucks.

There are also changes aplenty for the Bombers and C.O. Brown Stadium. The Bomb Squad have a few players returning from their playoff squad (their second playoff berth in franchise history), and assistant Brian Solemsaas has become manager this season. The ballpark received a face lift during the off-season, and looks absolutely fantastic!
