The Battle Creek Bombers season kicked off with a fantastic extra inning battle with the Lakeshore Chinooks.

Unfortunately, the Bombers would fall in their home opener 5-3 in

The Bombers took a 3-1 lead in the sixth inning thanks to a 2-run double from Cody Hawken (Portland). Returning Bomber Storm Joop (Indianapolis) would drive in a run just a few batters later to stretch the lead.

The Chinooks would claw their way back and tie the game at three in the ninth with a Caleb Dean single. They would add two more in the 13th to take the lead for good.

Tom Stoffel (Virginia Tech) had two of the Bombers seven hits. The Bomb Squad left 14 men on base on the night. Christian Griffin (West Alabama) tossed five innings of relief to take the loss on the mound.

The series concludes tonight at 7:05pm at C.O. Brown Stadium. The Bombers have to announce their starter on the mound. The Chinooks will send out Sam Lund (Madison College).
