Bronson Battle Creek is finishing an application process to designate its Battle Creek campus as a teaching hospital, allowing future physicians to finish residency at the Battle Creek facility.

The intent, announced Friday, November 18, 2016, is a collaborative effort between Bronson Battle Creek, Grace Health and the Homer Stryker School of Medicine at Western Michigan University.

Once approved, Bronson Battle Creek would accept family medicine residents who would complete their residencies here. Bronson officials feel some of them would remain in southwest Michigan and establish practices here, closing a deficit of medical practitioners in Calhoun County.
