Bronson Battle Creek volunteers recently presented the Bronson Battle Creek Cancer Care Center with a check for $75,000. The money will help fund the purchase of new radiation equipment to better serve cancer patients.

Each year, the volunteer committee selects a major project at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital and focuses on raising money to complete that project. The money for the project is distributed through the Bronson Health Foundation’s Bronson Battle Creek Volunteer Fund. Over the past year, volunteers held several fundraisers, including signature events like the Card Party, Purse Bingo and Trees of Love.

The check was presented at the volunteers’ annual installation meeting at Southern Exposure in Battle Creek. During the event, volunteers also installed their new 2019-20 board members, including volunteer board president, Judy Brown.

“Our volunteers are fantastic. They selflessly give their time, talent and personal resources to serve the patients at Bronson Battle Creek,” said Melissa Mackinder, volunteer coordinator. “They are dedicated to service and giving back to the community. I look forward to working with this new volunteer board and am confident they will continue to uphold Bronson’s values.”

The Bronson Battle Creek volunteers also honored six area high school, college-bound seniors with scholarships to use toward furthering their education. Recipients of the scholarships are Lillian Bambacht, Marionna Bigelow, Jenna Case, Austin Ignatovich, Marlee Masters and Madeleine Russell. These students are pursuing future careers in the healthcare field.
