A Sergeant with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department was injured yesterday while investigating a truck fire.

Sgt. Brent Lincoln responded to a vehicle fire on I-69 in Marshall Township around 4pm Thursday, finding that the rear tires on a semi-trailer were completely consumed with flames.  As he approached, one of the burning tires exploded and sent a piece of tire into his chest.

Sgt. Lincoln was transferred to Bronson Kalamazoo with non-life threatening injuries, and was treated and released a few hours later.
