A partnership established a few years ago in Battle Creek between The Food Bank of South Central Michigan and major partners like Denso has been a shot in the arm to feed Calhoun County's hungry residents.

Saturday, October 8, the Food Bank will again partner with those sponsors for a "drive by" donation event at the Lakeview Family Fare store, 45 East Columbia near Capital Avenue in Battle Creek. "The Partnership to End Hunger" event will include a drive-up lane at the Family Fare store, where donations can me made drive-thru style to benefit the Food Bank.

Can't make it to Family Fare? Donations are accepted through the Food Bank of South Central Michigan website.

Food Bank executive director Patty Parker tells WBCK a $1 donation means six meals through the Food Bank for those who need them. That is due to their negotiating power, as well as a willingness among food sources to help food banks to solve this issue.

Also, food banks do not only deal in food that is strictly considered "non-perishable". Click the player below to hear about it.
