Hundreds of people in Battle Creek’s Post Addition neighborhoods woke up without power early Sunday morning after a car crash.

Battle Creek Police say that a driver veered off the road at around 2am and hit a utility pole at East Michigan and Gilbert.

The driver of the vehicle and a passenger had to be cut out of the wreck and both have been hospitalized.

Power was out for more than seven hours for some of those affected.
