Car Theft Tips Can Pay Off

The organization HEAT - Help Eliminate Auto Theft - continues to operate, using consumer tips to bust car theft rings. And those tips not only pay off for auto owners and insurance companies, they can also pay off for the tipster.

"Call 1-800-242-HEAT, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and talk to a live operator," HEAT Director Terry Miller tells The Richard Piet Show. "All you need to do is give us the information you have and we take it from there. If an arrest is made you could be in line for an award that could go up to as much as $10,000."

HEAT passes the tips provided on to the appropriate law enforcement agencies for follow up, potentially leading to arrests of car thieves.
