Battle Creek's Charitable Union has been around a long time----131 years. It started in 1887 to get clothing for children in need and encourage them to go to school.   That hasn't changed.

Charatable Union Executive Director Theresa Allen was on the 95.3 WBCK Morning Show with Tim Collins to talk about the current "Back to School" drive. They're looking for donations of:

  • Clotihing, especially boys pants, sizes 5-18, huskys and slims.
  • Bedding
  • Small Household Items
  • Recyclable materials

She says they hope to help 2,000 Battle Creek kids with the Back to School Drive.

Allen says last year the were able to recycle 179,000 pounds of clothing.  She said it gets made into insulation, or sound-proofing.

Allen says the gift shop is open Monday thru Saturday and provides for 20% of their funding.

She says you can call to help, at 269-964-7234 or on line.
