A conversation on a citywide project to revitalize  fire stations will be held in Post Addition this month.

According to a release, the conversation will be held from 6:30 to 8pm on Monday, March 21 at Doris Hale Child Development Center at Community Action, located at 110 Green Street.

The City of Battle Creek is hosting the conversation, with the City Manager Rebecca Fleury and Fire Chief David Schmaltz being in attendance.  Beacon Community and Project 20/20 will be involved as well.

The Fire Department is considering three different options for consolidating and relocating some of the seven current fire stations in a way that makes operations more efficient and maintains or improves the goal of a four-minute response time across the city.

A variety of public meetings have taken place across the entire city since last fall to collect public input on the future of both the city’s fire and police facilities. Feedback gained from this and previous conversations will be used by fire, police and other city officials to help inform decisions related to the future of these facilities.

You can find more about the process at battlecreekmi.gov, and go to the Fire Department page.
