Did you know that from the years 2009 to 2014, Michigan had the 3rd highest percentage increase in our state's gross domestic product (GDP)?

Only the oil boom states of North Dakota and Texas had a larger percentage growth.

Congratulations Governor Snyder and the Republicans who control the Michigan state House and Senate.

Good policies do improve the lives of people, government can only improve our lives on a minimal basis and with great cost to us taxpayers.

The definition of state GDP is as follows: The monetary value of all the finished goods and services produced within a state’s border in a specific time period.

According to the Mackinac Center for Public Policy Michigan’s GDP increased 13.8% from 2009 to 2014, the US growth rate was only 5.9%.

North Dakota came in first with a 35.6% increase (Fracking) with Texas coming in at a distant second with a 15.5% increase.

The Mac Center believed some of the reasons for the great performance are “Gov. Rick Snyder’s business tax reforms, the state government not being shut down for four-plus years and the rebound of the auto industry all played a part in the increase in GDP.”

Even a University of Michigan economist Don Grimes believes the increase in Michigan’s GDP was “very impressive for Michigan.”

For those of you who want to give credit to the federal government and their policies, well consider this, there were seven states that had negative GDP growth from 2009 to 2014.

So now what do you think of Gov. Snyder and the Republicans' work?

Good policies help us the people bring ourselves out of the morass of bad policy decisions.

If you constantly bring hate and division to our society the only winners will be the politicians who promote it and the losers will be we the people.
