Last month, the Calhoun County Treasurer’s office played host to a representative from Battle Creek’s Sister City in Japan, as part of a training program.

Calhoun County Treasurer Brian Wensauer called it “a joy” to host Shingo Tamura of Takasaki, an employee of the Japanese Government, as he travelled to learn more about how the tax system works in the United States. Treasurer Wensauer says that the experience was “very beneficial” for his team as well, as the treasurer’s staff learned how the government of Takasaki, Japan is similar to our own, particularly when it comes to dealing with foreclosures and helping homeowners facing that challenge.
