The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office has requested an investigation by the Michigan Sheriff’s Association following an attempted suicide in the County Jail.  An inmate was found hanging in his cell shortly after 3:30 Sunday afternoon and was taken to the hospital in critical condition.  The 64-year-old man was convicted last week of Unlawful Imprisonment, Assault, and Weapons offenses and was due for sentencing next month.  The Sheriff’s Office says their preliminary investigation has shown no wrongdoing on their part but that they are requesting an outside agency investigate as well as a “proactive” measure.
